Emergency Meeting concerning Closing of Chapman Field at Rodbenders Tonight 7pm
***EMERGENCY MEETING TONIGHT***
To the South Florida Baseball & Softball Community,
We will be holding an Emergency Meeting Tonight at 7pm at Rodbenders in South Dade concerning the closing of Chapman Field and the future of our leagues.
Our beloved Chapman Field Ball Fields have been closed due to "HIGH Levels" of Arsenic. This comes as a total shock to many of us who have been playing on those fields for many years.
One of our big issues with this right now is the fact that our directors & other associations had to find out about this through media outlets and on the nightly news before even receiving a phone call, email or message from the County or Parks & Open Spaces Department.
Our second concern is the lack of information on symptoms or precautionary measures one should take if someone believes they or someone they know has been exposed to arsenic poisoning. The only information that has been released is that the park is closed due to HIGH LEVELS OF ARSENIC.
But, our main concern is the players, teams, directors, umpires, families, fans & others who have been playing on those fields for many, many years. Our Friday Night CoED Director Mr. Jerry Naftal has been hosting his Leagues on Friday nights for over 30 years now. He himself has played in the league for many of those years and continues to do so today.
We have sent a letter to District 8 Commissioner Lynda Bell, Mayor Carlos Alvarez & members of the local media inviting them to the Emergency Meeting tonight and asking them to shed some more light on the situation.
These are YOUR fields people! YOU pay taxes for YOUR parks and open spaces. YOU should be able to have a safe place for YOU and YOUR family to have fun and participate in recreation activities. And YOU should know what is going on in YOUR parks!
If you have been playing at Chapman Field and/or are concerned about this issue and would like to know more or ask questions, we invite you to attend our Emergency Meeting tonight at Rodbenders.
Below are some links we have found on the internet and the exact address to RODBENDERS. Thank you for your time.
